Responsible AI Policy & Principles
September 6, 2026
1. Executive Summary & Commitment
At Made It Enterprises Inc., developer of Nelle, we are committed to building and delivering artificial intelligence solutions that adhere to the highest standards of safety, privacy, reliability, and ethical governance. Designed specifically for contract review and approvals tracking, Nelle empowers legal, procurement, and commercial teams to accelerate contract workflows while retaining complete legal control.
Our Responsible AI Policy aligns with globally recognized framework principles ensuring our AI-assisted features are secure, transparent, and trustworthy.
When you see capitalized terms in this policy that are not defined, they have the meanings given to them in our Terms of Service.
2. Core Responsible AI Framework
Principle | Our Commitment & Practice
|
|---|---|
Privacy & Data Isolation | Customer Data and AI Inputs are kept confidential and strictly isolated. Customer Data is never used to train, retrain, fine-tune, or improve public or foundation Third-Party AI Models. |
Human-in-the-Loop | Nelle is an assistive platform built to support human review and decision-making. Nelle does not execute contracts, offer legal advice, or act as an autonomous legal decision-maker. |
Transparency | We clearly disclose when AI model outputs are utilized within the platform and provide clear visibility into underlying playbooks, approval rules, and audit trails. |
Reliability & Safety | We deploy rigorous system prompts, controls, and continuously test and evaluate AI features to minimize inaccuracies and ensure operational stability. |
Security & Governance | Our infrastructure leverages enterprise-grade security controls, robust encryption in transit and at rest, and strict adherence to Canadian federal and provincial privacy standards (including PIPEDA). |
3. Data Protection and Zero Model Training Guarantee
We respect the sensitive nature of commercial contracts and legal data. We maintain strict safeguards regarding data processing and Third-Party AI Models:
No Foundation Model Training: Your AI Inputs, uploaded contracts, internal playbooks, and generated AI Outputs are processed solely to deliver the Services to your organization. We explicitly prohibit third-party model providers (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) from utilizing your Customer Data or AI Inputs to train, fine-tune, or improve their public base models.
Internal Quality Assurance & Observability: To continuously measure accuracy, detect hallucinations, monitor safety guardrails, and improve output quality, we collect user feedback, system scores, and performance metrics. These telemetry and evaluation logs are processed securely using enterprise-grade LLM observability tools under strict data security and privacy controls. We use this telemetry data for internal operational, performance-monitoring, and product-improvement purposes. In simpler terms, we use this data to ensure that our Services have reduced risk of inaccurate AI Outputs.
Data Segregation & Retention: Customer Data remains logically segregated. Data retention adheres strictly to our standard Terms of Service and Data Processing Addendum (DPA), enabling prompt data export or deletion upon request.
Compliance: All processing activities comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws in Canada.
4. Human Oversight and Accountable AI
Nelle is engineered to augment human legal expertise, not replace it:
Assisting, Not Deciding: AI Outputs (such as risk assessments, suggested edits, fallback clauses, and approval routing recommendations) are intended purely for informational and administrative workflow support.
Legal Disclaimers: Made It Enterprises Inc. is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. All decisions to accept, reject, modify, sign, or escalate contract terms remain the sole responsibility of Customer’s authorized users and qualified legal counsel.
5. Alignment with Microsoft Ecosystem Standards
As Nelle integrates directly into modern enterprise productivity suites—including our Microsoft Word Add-in and web application—our responsible AI practices are structured to meet enterprise ecosystem expectations:
Adherence to Microsoft’s six Responsible AI principles: Fairness, Reliability & Safety, Privacy & Security, Inclusiveness, Transparency, and Accountability.
Interoperability with enterprise security environments and compliance standards.
Granular, role-based access control (RBAC) and comprehensive audit logging for all automated suggestions and user approvals.
6. Continuous Evaluation and Updates
Artificial intelligence technology and regulatory standards evolve rapidly. We regularly review and refine our internal prompt architecture, safety guardrails, and compliance policies to reflect emerging best practices, industry standards, and legislative developments in Canada and internationally.
